Heroic DOT Pothole Crew Aids Distressed Plane in the Bronx
As you know, our pothole crews are heroes every day, repairing New York City’s streets and filling thousands of potholes every year. This time, they really went above and beyond - helping to land a plane in distress in the Bronx.
While making post storm pothole repairs in the center and right lanes on the north bound Major Deegan Expressway about a mile south of the city line, a NYC DOT arterial pothole crew noticed a plane in distress. Quickly thinking, they stopped all remaining traffic from proceeding in the remaining lanes (left) and thus kept all traffic from any impact.
The plane eventually landed on the highway, right in front of the crew’s vehicles. The DOT personnel immediately aided the three passengers and gave them shelter inside one of their heated trucks as emergency personnel were contacted. A potentially more devastating situation could have arisen if it wasn’t for the efforts of this DOT pothole crew.
